Diarmuid Mullins has named his side for the clash with six of last year’s XV that lost the Munster final to Cork named from the start once more, including senior trio Colin Coughlan, Adam English and Cathal O’Neill.

In total, there are nine players that featured in that final that are included in Mullin’s starting line up tonight.

This game is a repeat of the 2019 Munster Minor final where Limerick captured their first title in six years under the tutelage of Mullins.

O’Neill was star of the show on that day, scoring 0-9 in the 1-17 to 1-11 victory. Patrick O’Donovan netted the Limerick goal but he misses out tonight through injury.

There are nine Limerick players that started that day in the first fifteen for tonight in Coughlan, English, O’Neill, captain Jimmy Quilty, Fergal O’Connor, Ethan Hurley, Eddie Stokes, Aidan O’Connor and Patrick Kirby.

Clare can call on seven of that 2019 team, including current Clare senior Patrick Crotty who captained the UL Fresher team to All-Ireland glory, a team that also featured the likes of Coughlan, O’Neill, English, Hurley and O’Connor.

Limerick and Clare are in group one of the Munster championship alongside Cork who receive a bye in the first round. Clare host the Rebels next week before Limerick travel to Cork on 20 April.

The top two teams advance to the semi-finals with the top pairing in group two.

Limerick face Clare in the first round of the Munster U20 Hurling Championship in the TUS Gaelic Grounds tonight 6 April at 7pm.
