He also refereed both of Limerick’s 2021 Munster Championship games where the Shannonsiders made it three on the spin.
Carlow native Paud O’Dwyer will referee Sunday’s Allianz Hurling League Division 1 Final between Limerick and Kilkenny. The experienced Palatine clubman has previously refereed All-Ireland Finals at Minor, U-21, and senior club level.
O’Dwyer was one of the linesmen when Limerick claimed the 2020 All-Ireland title in Croke Park. He had the same role when Kilkenny defeated Limerick in the 2019 championship, John Kiely’s sides last loss in the summer. He also refereed both of Limerick’s 2021 Munster Championship games where the Shannonsiders made it three on the spin.
Limerick are seeking a first league title since 2020 when they completed a back-to-back of Spring titles. Kilkenny’s wait is a little longer as they last claimed the trophy in 2018, beating Tipp in the decider.
These sides last met in the All-Ireland final in 2022 where the Treaty were two-point winners in Croke Park.
Throw in this Sunday is 2pm in Pairc Ui Chaoimh with the game to be shown live on TG4.
