Simon Zebo leaves the province at the end of the year having agreed a deal with a club in France
This will be Simon Zebo’s final season with his native Munster after announcing he isn’t going to sign a new contract with the province and will be heading to France next year with the club he’s joining unnamed as of yet.
Since Zebo’s announcement, which left some fans surprised seeing as the World Cup is now less than two years away, there hasn’t been a huge amount of talk about a potential replacement for him with most feeling there is enough strength in depth at Munster and within Ireland to cover for the departing winger.
In a report in The Irish Times yesterday, Gavin Cummiskey has said that Munster will look to bring in Connacht’s Tiernan O’Halloran as a suitable replacement for the 27 year old.
O’Halloran is out of contract with Connacht at the end of the season, and didn’t feature for Joe Schmidt’s side in their most recent November International’s which could suggest the talented back three player might look to a new opportunity to reignite his Irish career, and what better way to do that than by joining a province with rich veins of talent around him with the likes of Keith Earls, Andrew Conway and Darren Sweetnam.
Munster could face some competition for his signature however with Ulster also on the look out for a new full back with Charles Piatau leaving at the end of the season for Pat Lam’s Bristol.
