Ronan O’Gara reported to be on the move to Crusaders

Munster legend and current Racing 92 assistant coach could be on his way to New Zealand to join up with Super Rugby side Crusaders according to reports on Friday morning.

The Irish Examiner have reported that defending champions Canterbury Crusaders will move for the Cork man in a bid to bring him in as assistant to head coach Scott Robertson from next year.

According to the Examiner an IRFU source has claimed that O’Gara is “99\% certain to the the plunge” in a move that would see him based in Canterbury in 2018.

O’Gara, an Examiner columnist, has refused to comment on the rumour, while there has been no confirmation from either Crusaders or Racing yet.

The report states it has been claimed that Crusaders GM Angus Gardiner, who is a former team manager at the franchise is leading the chase of the former Ireland International.

While it also cites that O’Gara’s, potential departure would not have any bearing on Simon Zebo’s likely move to Racing 92, with the Munster full back set to link up with the French club next summer.

This move would be another feather in the cap for O’Gara from a coaching point of view, with Crusaders being widely regarded as the top club side in World Rugby.
