One of Limerick’s most difficult championships to call threw up a couple of interesting results in round one.
The battle for the Limerick Junior A hurling championship began over the weekend with eleven fixtures in total.
With four groups of six, the top two from each qualifies for the quarter-finals.
In group one Templeglantine sent out an early warning sign with a 21-point win over Blackrock. Last year’s semi-finalists Ballybricken Bohermore edged Drom Broadford while Crecora Manister’s goals pulled them past Staker Wallace.
Monagea were the big winners in group two, grabbing a 5-14 to 1-10 win over Ahane. Claughaun were narrow victors in their clash with Castletown Ballyagran while Killeedy held St Patricks.
Group three only had two contests with St Kierans and Askeaton’s game moved to this week. Both Feenagh Kilmeedy and Doon were comprehenisve in their wins over Mungret St Pauls and Ballybrown respectively.
In group four, 2018 champions Tournafulla were comfortable in their win over Rathkeale, Patrickswell proved too strong for Old Christians while Kilteely Dromkeen saw off Garryspillane with ease.
