RTE to broadcast National League and Club Championships in 2019

A new broadcasting deal has been made between RTE and Eir Sport which will see the Irish channel broadcast some Allianz League games and Club championship games during 2019.

While RTE’s GAA calander generally ran from May to September, the new agreement will see Gaelic Games shown live throughout the year.

Eir Sport will continue to show two games each weekend while RTE will simulcast four games from the National Leagues.

On the announcement of the deal, a GAA statement read,

“While eir sport will act as host broadcaster, RTÉ will have its own editorial, presentation and punditry teams to bring its own style and expertise to the coverage.”

TG4 will continue to hold rights to prime Sunday slots in the Allianz League and their coverage of the Club Championship’s will run alongside that of RTE’s on conclusion of the inter-county championships.

RTE’s Head of Sport Declan McBennett said,

“Increasing RTÉ’s live coverage of Gaelic Games across the GAA calendar year, we are reaffirming our commitment to bringing national moments to a national audience, free-to-air and guaranteeing coverage on RTÉ television for nine months of the year for the next three years.”
