Senior Camogie side maintain top tier status with Offaly win

Pat Ryan’s sides season came to an end on Saturday afternoon in Banagher.

Limerick defeated Offaly 0-17 to 2-9 in Banagher in their final game of the All-Ireland Senior Camogie championship to secure their status in the top tier.

Offaly had the first three scores of the game before Caoimhe Costello got Limerick off the mark with a free.

Rebecca Delee soon doubled the Shannonsiders total with Costello levelling prior to the water break.

Offaly replied with their first goal of the game but scores from Costello (2) and Caoimhe Lyons levelled proceedings.

Costello’s sixth of the game handed Limerick a slight 0-8 to 1-4 lead at the interval.

A double from Aisling Scanlon began the second half scoring for the visitors with Lyons adding to the lead shortly after.

Scanlon’s third of the half had Limerick five clear after 40 minutes of play.

An Offaly retort had it 0-13 to 1-6 in Limerick’s favour at the second waterbreak.

1-1 on the bounce for the hosts had the game level for a fourth time with five minutes to play.

Costello regained the lead for Limerick with Lyons third score providing a cushion.

Two on the bounce for Offaly made it all square in injury time.

But when needed most, Costello regained the lead for Limerick with Mairead Ryan’s score sealing the win for Pat Ryan’s side.
