Veteran left-back Shane Tracy has re-signed for Limerick FC for an eleventh season ahead of the 2019 Airtricity League First Division season.
Tracy will be a welcome addition for Tommy Barrett’s team as he is a very experienced player at this level. Limerick currently have one of the youngest squads in the league and along with Shaun Kelly and Robbie Williams, the former Arsenal youth will add steel to the defence.
In 2018, the Limerick native had a slow start to the campaign and only regained his place at left back following the financial upheaval in the summer. However, Tracy put in several impressive displays but was bitterly disappointed to see his hometown club relegated from the premier division in a play off.
It was expected that Tracy would sign back with the club earlier and as time moved on, supporters became worried with the lack of news. Fears have now been eased somewhat despite several ongoing issues at the club.
The Shannonsiders announced a friendly against local third level side Limerick Institute of Technology on Twitter which will take place tomorrow(Wednesday) at 12pm at Limerick IT.
Limerick open their campaign against Longford Town on Friday February 22nd and the venue is expected to be the Markets Field.
