An away win for the Shannon Ladies establishes a bright future for the team
There was a great win for the Shannon Ladies Rugby team on the road at the weekend against Tralee Ladies as they won 7-0.
Emily Murphy scored the first and only try of the match which she converted also.
The try came from a huge effort at scrum time and quick hands ensued to get the ball over the line. Played in dreadful conditions on the most northerly pitch at the Tralee facility, the early score proved vital in the end result for the ladies.
Though Shannon threatened the line a number of times both halves, the conditions did not help for a free scoring game. Tralee indeed had their own period of dominance, especially in the early period of the second half. But the Shannon defense was immense and despite some injuries the team and all players who came on were well up for the challenge.
Indeed it is hoped all the girls are fit again soon and send best wishes to the Tralee player who was taken to hospital via ambulance during the game.
A super start to 2022, and full credit to this mostly young team that has seen a huge transition in players and coaching staff in the past year.
