Shannon relegated Garryowen while Young Munster move closer to securing a play-off place

Garryown’s time in the top tier of the AIL came to an end after they were beaten by their Limerick rivals in Dooradoyle.

There were Limerick derby wins for both Shannon and UL Bohemian, as Garryowen are relegated from the top flight of Irish rugby for the second time.

Shannon’s 26-16 away win at Dooradoyle, ended any hope that Garryowen had of staying in Division 1A of the All Ireland League. Michael Mbaud scored a try for Garryowen and Tony Butler converted and added three penalties.

Young Munster took another step towards a playoff place with a 21-0 home win over Ballynahinch. Patrick Campbell and Shay McCarthy scored tries for “The Cookies” and they were also awarded a penalty try. Evan Cusack kicked two conversions.
