Squad Update | De Allende ruled out as Champions Cup attention turns to Wasps

The Munster squad will return to the HPC on Tuesday to begin preparations for Sunday’s Champions Cup clash against Wasps at Thomond Park (3.15pm).

A 16-13 win away to Castres on Friday night secured a place in the round of 16 in the Champions Cup for Munster with Wasps also on the verge of qualifying for the knock-out stages after their impressive win over defending champions Toulouse.

On the injury front, Niall Scannell will go for a scan on the shoulder injury he sustained against Castres on Friday night.

Calvin Nash (ankle), Jason Jenkins (abdomen) and Chris Cloete (neck) will all be reintroduced to training this week and their respective availability will be decided later in the week.

Damian de Allende is being managed for an abdominal injury with the medical department and will be unavailable for a number of weeks.

Joey Carbery (elbow), Rowan Osborne (head) and RG Snyman (knee) continue to be managed by the medical department and are not available.

In player news, hooker Declan Moore returned to Munster last week after a short-term spell as injury cover at Ulster.

There were 12 Munster players in All Ireland League action at the weekend in Division 1A and 1B.

Greencore Munster Rugby Academy man Patrick Campbell scored the winning try off the bench for Young Munster as they defeated UCD. Academy lock Eoin O’Connor also featured for the Cookies.
