It was a fruitful weekend for members of Limerick Swimming Club at the Irish Short Course Championships in Lisburn as Swim Ireland’s Irish Short Course Swimming Championships concluded in with a further five Irish Records added to the eleven already broken over the weekend.
In the men’s 200m Breastroke final it was young European Youth Olympic swimmer Eoin Corby of NCL stormed to victory posting 2:17.25. Corby claimed bronze in the 50m in a time of 29.48 and the 100m in 1.04.48, while Edel Daly also claimed a medal double securing silver in the 800m and 1500m Free.
Finn McGeever claimed a silver medal in the 200m Fly while he also posted a new standard of 8:05.42 at 800m Freestyle, shaving 32 seconds from his previous best to finish second behind Aer Lingus’ Andrew Meegan who regained the National Title, last held in 2015, when he clocked in at 8:02.57. While McGeever set a new Irish junior record in the 800 Free recording a time of 8.05.42s. While he was also part of the 4×50 medley relay team that claimed bronze in a time of 1.44.47 along with Alan and Eoin Corby and Jack.
Mark Walsh also earned a silver in the 400m individual medley in a time of 4.30.15 while in the 50m Backstroke Final Alan Corby claimed silver in 26.07.
