Tadhg Beirne to miss the remainder of the Six Nations Championship

The lock was nominated for the player of the championship award back in 2021 and has become one of Ireland’s most integral players.

Tadhg Beirne will miss the remainder of the 2023 Six Nations after the forward was forced to undergo ankle surgery today. The Munster man picked up an ankle injury against France at the weekend and will now miss 12 weeks of action.

The injury will not only curtail his Six Nations season but put the remainder of his club season in jeaporday.

Munster return to action this Friday with a meeting with the Ospreys in Thomond Park. However, the Champions Cup clash with the Cell C Sharks on April 1 will also come too early for the Kildare native.

A twelve week recovery period will see him return in early May, with the Champions Cup final fixed for May 20 in the Aviva Stadium. The URC group stage comes to an end on April 22 with Munster also against the Sharks. Munster are currently sixth after three successive wins.

Ireland have a week off this week before traveling to Italy.
