TEAM | Graham Shine names new look Limerick for League opener with Kilkenny

There are just five remaining from the team that were beaten by Fermanagh in the All-Ireland semi-final in 2022.

Graham Shine has named his Limerick Ladies Football team to take on Kilkenny in the first round of the Lidl National League this Sunday in Dunmore.

There are a number of changes to the team that were beaten by Fermanagh in the All-Ireland semi-final last year with just five remaining from the sides that were downed by the Ulster outfit.

Roisin Ambrose captains the side from midfield and is partnered by Lauren Ryan with both starting in different positions last year. Leah Coughlan and Meadhbh McNamara are retained in defence as is Iris Kennelly in attack.

Carol Bateman comes into the team in goals with Fiona Bradshaw and Yvonne Lee in the full-back line. Lee’s sister Grace is at wing back with clubmate Deborah Murphy on the other wing.

Kate Kennedy, Ellie Woulfe and Laura Stack make up the half-forward line with Kennelly joined by Andrea O’Sullivan and Chloe Brosnahan in the inside line.

Limerick will face a Kilkenny side who return to the national leagues after a three year absence. The Cats withdrew from league and championship at the end of 2019, a year in which they were beaten 7-20 to 1-3 by Limerick in Askeaton.
