The Ahane native just beat out Dublin’s Donal Burke and Clare’s Aidan McCarthy to the weekly award.
The public has voted Limerick’s Tom Morrissey the GAA.ie Hurler of the Week after his performance in the Treaty’s five-point win over Galway on Sunday.
The prolific forward received 2,575 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page which put him ahead of Dublin’s Donal Burke (2,452) and Clare’s Aidan McCarthy (2,419).
Morrissey shot over 0-8 in the victory in Salthill with five of those coming from play. His most important contribution came down the stretch as he bagged a pair after Galway had got within two points of the All-Ireland champions.
He was joined on the Team of the Week by fellow Limerick stars Barry Nash and brother Dan who presented him with the man of the match award following the contest.

Tom Morrissey was outstanding for Limerick in their victory over Galway. He scored eight points, five of them from play, and was also a creative influence around the middle third of the field.

Morrissey and co have a bye week before they travel to Mullingar to take on Westmeath in the fourth round. A victory there would push them closer to the knockout stages as they currently lead Clare on head-to-head. Cork top Group A with three wins from three thus far.
