Treaty Come out on Top against Limerick District League XI at Jackman Park

On a great occasion to mark the 50th anniversary of Jackman Park, Treaty United ran out 0-2 victors over a Limerick District League XI managed by Keith Kerley, Declan Considine and Daithi O’Donoghue. Two first half goals from Enda Curran and Steven Christopher saw Treaty finish their pre-season campaign with a victory.

Treaty started the match really quickly and were ahead within 2 minutes when last year’s top marksman Curran made no mistake from close range. Conor Barry fired wide following a Chrstopher cross before the former’s corner was headed goalwards by Ben O’Riordan only to be saved by Gary Neville.

The Limerick District League XI created their first chance when a cross from the right was only partially cleared by Marc Ludden but Gary Ward’s curling effort travelled just wide of Conor Winn’s goal.

On the half hour mark, Christopher doubled Treaty’s tally when he tucked the ball home following a flick on from Curran. Plenty of substitutions were introduced by both sides in the second period and Limerick District League created further chances through the lively Lucas Silva of Brazuca United and left full-back Jason Keane who forced Winn into a save in the second period.

Treaty will now turn their attention to the start of the League of Ireland season next week as they entertain Bray Wanderers at the Markets Field in the opener. After the game, the Limerick District League committee made medal presentations to both squads as a souvenir to mark the 50th anniversary of Jackman Park.
