The result lifts Treaty into sixth place in the table, and just three points off Bray in fifth, who drew with Finn Harps on Friday.
Tommy Barrett’s Treaty United side took a huge step towards the promotion playoff spots on Friday night, as the Shannonsiders beat Kerry FC 3-2 away in Mounthawk Park. The result lifts Treaty into sixth place in the table, and just three points off Bray in fifth, who drew with Finn Harps on Friday.
It’s two wins in the last three for the Limerick side, who have finally found some good form, allowing them to surge up the table.
For Kerry on the other hand, the misery continues, and the newcomers still have just six points this season.
Although, it looked like they may be on for their second win of the season on Friday, as Sean McGrath put Kerry 1-0 up inside the opening minute. Despite the quick start, the Kingdom just didn’t take enough of their chances, and were punished by a composed Treaty side.
Captain Marc Ludden led his team back to the light in the best way possible, as the 33-year-old found the net just before the half hour mark. Less than ten minutes later Treaty’s number ten Dean George had the Shannonsiders in front, who were now in control of the game.
Despite a number of Kerry chances, Barrett’s men didn’t let the lead slip, and with fifteen minutes to go Enda Curran scored yet another chip. The Galway native has scored three very similar goals in his last three outings, all finished with the same audacious technique.
As Treaty looked to be cruising to a victory, there would be something to cheer about for the Kerry faithful, as Leo Gaxha produced a wondergoal, but it was too late for the Kingdom, who remain rooted to the bottom of the table.
Treaty are back up and running, and return to Limerick next Friday, as they welcome Waterford to the Markets Field. The visitors thumped the Shannonsiders 7-0 back in June, and sit second in the table.
