A massive win for the Shannonsiders to go top of the First Division, and they are the only side with a perfect record remaining in the league.
Tommy Barrett’s Treaty United side made it two wins from two for their 2024 League of Ireland First Division season on Friday night, as the Shannonsiders pipped UCD to a 1-0 victory.
Backed by the passionate support of the Blue Army who made the trip to the UCD Bowl, Treaty managed to get a vital three points from a hard fought contest.
Playing in their brand new red away strip, the visitors failed to generate a clear cut chance in a cagey opening half, although they did not face much threat down their own end.
It looked as though it was going to be one of those days when striker Enda Curran missed a penalty just before the hour mark, the Galway native denied by UCD keeper Kian Moore from 12 yards.
Over ten minutes later Curran did have the ball in the back of the net, as he got on the end of a Corey Chambers punt to produce a cultured left-footed finish past Moore.
Advantage Treaty.
The college side applied the pressure as the clock ticked down, but Barrett’s men stood firm to secure the three points in Dublin.

Next up is a trip to Kerry this Friday, who sit in ninth place, having suffered defeat in each of their opening games.
The Kingdom were at home to Bray last Friday, with a Darren Craven brace helping the visitors to a 3-2 victory over the ten men hosts.
