The visitors demolished Treaty 7-0 at the start of June, but the Shannonsiders have steadied the ship since then.
Treaty United return to the Markets Field this Friday night, following last week’s win in Kerry, as they welcome Waterford to Limerick. The pair met in Limerick already this season, as Waterford came away with the three points after a 4-1 win.
The visitors demolished Treaty 7-0 at the start of June, but the Shannonsiders have steadied the ship since then.
Tommy Barrett’s side are unbeaten in the last three, picking up wins over Athlone and Kerry, and drawing with promotion rivals Bray.
It means that Treaty have risen up to sixth, and now sit just three points off the playoff positions, which they will be desperate to get themselves in.
Opponents Waterford are second in the table, but have failed to win in two of their last three games, drawing 2-2 with Longford Town last time out.
The main talking point coming into this game is the 7-0 drubbing witnessed the last time these sides locked horns. Treaty travelled to Waterford without regular starters Enda Curran and Darren Nwankwo, and their absence was felt, as the home side dominated, leading 5-0 at half time, before tagging on two more goals by the end of the night.
The result formed part of a torrid five games winless run for the Shannonsiders, although form has picked up in recent weeks, and Barrett will be hoping his side give a better account of themselves this time around.
The return of Curran will be pivotal for getting a result against Waterford, with the Galway native in terrific form, scoring three goals in as many games.
Kick off is 7:45pm this Friday, as Treaty look to take revenge on Waterford, and continue their push towards the playoffs.
