Treaty United host playoff hopefuls Athlone Town as season winds down

The Shannonsiders sit eighth in the table, and are seven points off fifth placed Wexford, who have a game in hand.

Treaty United welcome Athlone Town to the Markets Field on Friday evening, with kick off at 7:45pm.

The sides have faced off three times this season, the Shannonsiders winning twice, and the other game ending in a draw.

Despite Tommy Barrett’s side having the better head-to-head record this season, they sit eleven points off their opponents, and look likely to miss out on the promotion playoffs.

The Limerick outfit are winless in their last four outings, while Athlone have won four of their last six, and are expected to finish in a playoff position.

With just five games left to play, Treaty will be hard tasked to finish in the top five, and need a win this Friday.

Success Edogun has been a man-in-form lately, scoring last time out in a 2-2 draw with Bray Wanderers. The forward will expect to play from the start on Friday, and his manager will hope he can find the net yet again.

Haitian centre-forward Frantz Pierrot has been scoring goals for fun all season, and will be a thorn in the side of the Treaty defence when they meet in the Markets Field.
