An early second half goal from Dean Ebbe was enough to give this visitors all three points, on a night where both sides saw red in the Markets Field.
The result leaves Treaty nine points off the playoff positions in eighth. Athlone are up to third, ten points clear of Treaty and ten removed from leaders Cork City.
