The FAI have officially invited Treaty United to enter the licencing process for the new 2021 season. At the beginning of November, the club officially expressed an interest in applying for an Airtricity League First Division licence.
There were no Limerick representatives in the men’s Airtricity League in 2020 and it has always been the ambition of Treaty United to enter men’s and schoolboy academy teams to add to the Women’s National League and Girls under-17’s league squads.
The club were given the green light to continue with the process on Tuesday evening and released a short statement on Wednesday morning.
The statement read: “Treaty United are very pleased to announce that following the evaluation from the League of Ireland Expression of Interest Panel, the club have been invited to enter into the licencing process for 2021. Treaty United look forward to the next step in the process and we would like to thank the FAI for the opportunity to see the return of men’s senior soccer to the mid-west region”
