Treaty United made a triple signing ahead of the 2023 season with the news that Steven Christopher and Lee Devitt have re-signed for the club while midfielder Conor Barry joins from Wexford FC. The announcement follows the news that star striker Enda Curran will remain at the club for the 2023 campaign.
Detailing the news on the club’s official social media outlets, Treaty have intimated that there will be several new signings throughout the week as manager Tommy Barrett looks to build a competitive squad for an ultra-competitive First Division. The addition of Kerry FC along with the relegation of Finn Harps who will now be managed by Dave Rogers, ensures a tough task for the Limerick side who have reached the play-offs in their first two seasons in formation.
It has certainly been a promising two days for Treaty United supporters who may have been fearing the worst when two of last season’s top performers Jack Brady and Callum McNamara signed for Longford Town and Galway United respectively. Adding to the emigration of Jack Lynch, Joe Collins and Conor Melody, many feared that last year’s squad would be decimated.
However, Barrett has managed to regain plenty of optimism. The club have been linked with former goalkeeper Tadgh Ryan who has been released by Bohemians and the goalkeeping position will be high on the priority list following Brady’s departure. Although nothing has been officially announced, it is expected that Matt Keane will join his native Kerry ahead of their inaugural season the League of Ireland.
New signing Conor Barry was a key player for Wexford last season under former manager Ian Ryan. The 27 year-old is an attacking midfielder and should add plenty of creativity for Treaty. Barry scored 5 goals in 27 appearances for the South East side in 2022. He has also lined out for Finn Harps, Galway United and Athlone Town.

Lee Devitt and Steven Christopher were both vital players for Treaty last season as the club reached the play-off and the FAI Cup semi-final. Devitt made 30 appearances for the club and played in a variety of positions including left-back, left-wing and midfield. Christopher made 26 appearances and scored three goals while also assisting Enda Curran on his way to 20 goals for the club.
It was a busy day in the League of Ireland First Division with several signings. The biggest shock of the day came at Eamon Deacy Park with former Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan agreeing to become John Caulfield’s assistant manager at Galway United. Hogan managed Harps for 9 years the decision to become an assistant to a once staunch rival manager has taken many by surprise.
At Horgan’s former club, Dave Rogers made his first notable signing with the news that centre-back Keith Cowan has returned to the club from Drogheda United. Longford Town were dealt a further blow with the news that Darren Creaven has re-signed for Bray Wanderers following one season with the club. New Wexford FC boss James Keddy has added both Conor and Daragh Levington to his squad having also signed several ex-Longford players including Jordan Adeyemo, Aaron Robinson and Matthew Dunne. It promises to be an extremely exciting off-season.
