Two Limerick students to represent Ireland in hockey

Villiers students, Sam Lilburn and Bryan Smyth, have been selected on the Irish U-18 and Irish U-16 panels respectively for the forthcoming friendly International matches against their English counterparts between 20th and 22nd Feb.

The matches are being played at the English National Sports and Conference Centre of Lilleshall in Shropshire.

Both students were selected onto the National training squads following successful showings at the Interprovincial Championships held in Cork last September and have worked hard ever since at National Training squad sessions held in Dublin and Banbridge, to fully justify their selection.

Sam and Bryan along with Villiers head Coach Brian Gray and Villiers School Principal Jill Storey, with the Munster Senior Cup

Villiers are attempting to retain the Munster Senior Cup for an impressive 3rd year in a row this year and they face Ashton School from Cork in the Final with the venue and date yet to be finalised.

Having beaten Newtown School Waterford – the All Ireland Champions –  in the 1/4 Final,  and Bandon Grammar School recently in the Semi Final the school will enter the final in an optimistic mood.

Best of luck to Sam and Bryan with Ireland and to the school in the Munster Final!
