UL Bohs duo named co-captains of Munster Women’s squad for Interpros

The Munster Women’s management team have confirmed Chloe Pearse and Eimear Considine as co-captains of the Munster Women’s squad for the 2019 Interprovincial Series.

Back rower Pearse and winger Considine will lead out the side at Irish Independent Park on Saturday, 17 August, when Munster open their Interpro campaign at home to Ulster (kick-off 3pm).

Both Irish internationals, Pearse and Considine play their club rugby with UL Bohemians having represented Munster for a number of seasons.

The Munster Women’s squad, sponsored by Keane’s jewellers, will then travel to face Connacht in round two at the Sportsground on Saturday 24 August, before hosting Leinster in round three at Irish Independent Park on Saturday 31 August.

Teams will then be seeded based on their finishing positions with semi-finals taking place on Saturday 14 September and the final scheduled for Saturday 21 September.

The U18 Interprovincial Series will mirror the senior tournament with the Munster U18 Girls squad taking on their provincial counterparts in double-headers with the Munster Women’s squad.

For the first time, both the Munster Women’s squad and the Munster U18s Girls squad will be coached and managed by all female staff with Laura Guest and Fiona Hayes heading up the women’s and girls coaching teams respectively alongside a number of former Munster players and Irish internationals.

Munster Rugby in conjunction with the Munster Women’s Committee are hosting a rugby showcase with a number of initiatives run across both women’s and girls double-headers at Irish Independent Park on Saturday 17 and Saturday 31 August.

A series of workshops and events will be held with an aim to grow the women’s and girls game when the two sides face off against Ulster and Leinster at the Cork venue. For more information, click here.
