UL Women to take on UCC in Ashbourne Cup Final

UL look to take title for the third year in a row.

The UL Ashbourne Camogie team will take on UCC in the Ashbourne Cup Final this evening in Mallow with a 7pm throw in. The game was originally fixed for Ballinalsoe last Sunday had to be postponed due to the bad weather.

The UL women had a comprehensive win over WIT in the semi-final on February 10th on a scoreline of 5-13 to 1-02 in Dangan. Goals from Waterford’s Beth Carlton, Galway’s Niamh Hanniffy and Tipperary’s Grace O’Brien being the decisive factor on the day.

UL’s Ashbourne team is stronger than ever with a host of county stars in their line up including Limerick’s Caoimhe Lyons, Tipperary dual stars Orla O’Dwyer and Roisin Howard and Kilkenny’s Ciara Murphy.

The final is a repeat of last years epic clash where UL were the victors on the day. If UL are to win this evening this will be their 7th Ashbourne Cup title, although this will be a tough task as UCC will look to take the title of the reigning champions.

If you can get down to Mallow as this is sure to be a brilliant final.
