WATCH: The agonising 2014 meeting between Limerick and Kilkenny

Sunday, August 10th 2014 was the last time Limerick and Kilkenny met in the Championship. On that occasion it was the All Ireland semifinal played in torrential rain at Croke Park.

Brian Cody’s side eked out a 2-13 to 0-17 victory over Limerick in front of 45,478 sodden souls. The Cats then went on to beat Tipperary in a replayed final to claim another All Ireland title.

For Limerick it was another Croke Park defeat and the last time the team have got anywhere near the latter stages of the Championship.

The Sunday Game montage did a great job of showing just how bad the conditions were on the day. The 2013 and 2014 Limerick teams were competitive but have dropped off the pace since.

With the bookies having Kilkenny at 1/3 and Limerick available at 11/4, the betting enhances  would indicate Limerick don’t have much of a chance.

Do Limerick have a genuine chance to beat the Cats this time around?
