WATCH: Alex Wotton keen to put his own “spin on things” for Munster

Munster return to Pro 14 action this weekend on the back of an important win over the Cheethas in South Africa three weeks ago.

The squad will travel to Italy to face Zebre this weekend hoping to build on the recent win as they look to close the gap on Glasgow Warriors at the top of the Pro 14 table.

Winger Alex Wotton, realises the importance of the trip to Italy and is keen to see his side improve on early season results ahead of upcoming games.

“We’re hoping to go strong from the back end of the trip that we had away. Hopefully we can carry that momentum to Italy and take it forward to the next block.”

Despite some mixed results thus far, Munster’s willingness to move the ball wide at all available opportunities has been noted in Johann van Graan’s first full season in charge.

Wotton acknowledges the work that went into this during the pre-season and is hopeful that it will bear fruit for him and his fellow wingers throughout the campaign.

“We’ve put a lot of emphasis this season, especially during pre-season on our catch and pass, just the basics of the game. And that obviously gives an opportunity to the outside backs to put their own spin on things. There’s been a few opportunities where I’ve managed to get my hands on the ball in space and managed to do quite well on those sort of things so hopefully that carries on.”
