Treaty United manager Tommy Barrett was pleased with his team’s performance and win against Waterford FC on Tuesday night in the Munster Senior Cup.
Goals from Dean George and Sean Guerins provided the win for the Limerick side who now advance to the semi-final to face either Cork City or Midleton.
The game was switched to the University of Limerick at very short notice with both teams in the Markets Field before the decision was made. The Garryowen venue was deemed unplayable and both teams had to rush to UL to play the fixture at the later time of 7.50.
A host of new signings lined out for the home side with Enda Curran, Lee Devitt and Joe Gorman all impressing on the night. George cleverly converted a close range back-heel after a header from Gorman. Guerins powered a header past Paul Martin in the second half to ensure the win.
Barrett was very happy with the fitness levels of his players as we are now two weeks away from the beginning of the season with an away trip to Wexford FC on Friday, February 18th.
“The players came back fit. We gave them an off-season programme and they have a great professional attitude. There are a couple of lads who were sick with Covid and struggling with injuries but overall we are certainly in good shape.”
