WATCH: Barrett: “We were miles off it in the first half”

Limerick FC were on the wrong side of a seven goal thriller on Friday night as they were defeated by Cobh Ramblers 4-3.

A disastrous first half allowed Cobh to race in to a 3-0 lead through two goals from Brian Murphy and a solitary effort from former Limerick man Ian Turner.

Limerick showed much more fight and determination in the second period as the introduction of Clyde O’Connell and Sean McSweeney brought life to the performance. Despite mounting a comeback with goals from McSweeney, Karl O’Sullivan and Lee Devitt, it was too little too late and Barrett was far from pleased with the first half display.

“Lethargic is the word for it. I don’t know what went wrong to be honest. We didnt press them all over the pitch and made Cobh look better than they are. They aren’t a bad side but we were miles off it.”
