Munster kick off their Pro 14 season looking to build on two promising campaigns where they fell short to the eventual champions both times. This will be Head Coach Johann van Graan’s first full preseason in charge. Stalwart Billy Holland is hoping to build on the past two seasons and says the coaches have been looking to tweak their game to improve results at the seasons end.
“The coaches had a good look at what we did last season and they have picked a few aspects of our game that they felt we need to improve on that in the big games will stand to us.”
Munster have strengthened considerably over the preseason, signing Irish internationals Tadgh Beirne and Joey Carberry as well as Mike Haley. These signings alongside those returning from injury mean Munster have arguably their strongest panel in years. Holland has seen these new signings settle quickly and says how the younger players in the squad have been keen to impress with the addition of these new players.
“It’s actually been the younger guys that have been impressive… There’s guys that have been around for a long time that have stepped up as well. Everyone has done a good preseason.”
