WATCH: CJ Stander says Ireland have plenty of places to ‘fix-up’ after Japan loss

Munster’s CJ Stander and team masseur Willie Bennett were up for the daily media pool on Monday as Ireland look to bounce back from a terribly poor performance against Japan.

Next up for Ireland it is Russia with Joe Schmidt’s side knowing that two bonus point wins in their remaining games will be enough to secure a 1/4 final place.

Avoiding New Zealand in the quarter final is now out of Ireland’s hands but Scotland could do us a favour if they beat Japan.

Reflecting on the loss to host Japan, Stander said the Japanese were deserving of their victory with plenty for Ireland to work on.

“There are a few places where we can fix up. Work off the ball more and take our opportunities.

But Japan played well, they put us under pressure and they kept building on that pressure during the game and especially in the second half.”

While Ireland tired severely in the second half, Stander said the game against Scotland was actually played in tougher conditions.

“It was hot that day but in the first ten minutes, you have a job to do. Adrenaline will take you through.”
