Dan Goggin has made a big breakthrough with Munster this season but it could have been a very different sporting career for him if his cards had fell another way.
Goggin played hurling with Limerick up to minor level but has no regrets with choosing rugby when the time came to make the decision.
The Munster centre admitted that he thoroughly enjoyed his former Na Piarsaigh teammates lift the Liam MacCarthy Cup last August.
“Watching a couple of lads win the All-Ireland that I played with all my life – I’m extremely delighted for them. It’s an incredible achievement. Looking back I wonder would I have been a part of it if I had stuck with hurling. Maybe, maybe not but I will always be happy with the decision that I made.”
Goggin has been named at inside centre for this weekend’s clash with Connacht and feels that Munster will do very well to come away with anything from the game.
“They are a very, very good team. We know what they are capable. They are on fire at the moment. They were very lucky not to come away without a win against Leinster and are only three points behind us at the moment. We know how important this game is.”
