WATCH: David Dempsey says going back to back is “extra special”

Na Piarsaigh claimed their 5th Limerick SCH title since 2011 on Saturday evening with a 2-22 to 3-10 win over Doon at the Gaelic Grounds. 

Despite their recent success in the competition, the Caherdavin side never done back to back titles. Speaking to Sporting Limerick after the game, David Dempsey says the desire to retain their title was a huge motivating factor. 

The Limerick side will have little time to dwell on their success as they face the Tipperary champions Clonoulty Rossmore in Munster club action next weekend.

“It’s our first time doing back to back so it’s extra special. It was our main goal at the start of the season to get back here but to get through first of all because it is so competitive this year with the six main teams in the one group.”

Dempsey says the side will enjoy their current success but will shift focus quickly to the Munster battle.

“We will enjoy today and tomorrow. We have been through it, a week is a short turnaround but we will settle down and recover on Monday and get back into the video. We will give the Munster a right crack again.”
