WATCH: Donal O’Sullivan on learning from Cork loss ahead of Westmeath

Limerick travel to Cusack Park this Saturday to take on Westmeath in the All-Ireland Football Qualifiers.

Limerick defeated Tipperary in the Munster quarter final in convincing fashion that saw them heavily talked-up into their semi-final clash with Cork.

However, in Pairc Ui Rinn, early goals would prove crucial as Limerick fell to a heavy defeat.

After the manner of their loss to Cork, this Saturday will provide Limerick with a chance to learn from the defeat.

“A tough day out against Cork so it’s really just a question of refocusing. Lads have applied themselves over the last two weeks so again with the Westmeath game in mind.”

Westmeath will provide a different opposition to Limerick, with the Leinster side showing some good form this year.

While they were defeated by Laois in the Lesinster quarter-final, they were winners of Division 3 in the league this year.

Westmeath were Leinster finalists in 2015 and 2016, showing thier undoubted pedigree.

As such Limerick will be underdogs coming into the game with O’Sullivan saying these are the match-ups that players look forward to.

“Obviously they won the O’Byrne cup this year so they’re a top team. These are the challenges that we want. That’s why we’re training and thankfully playing football at the end of June.”
