WATCH: Donal O’Sullivan speaks about the importance of reaching the Munster final

For Limerick joint-captain Donal O’Sullivan, a positive meeting in the wake of a disappointing league campaign results wise would prove to be the catalyst in Limerick’s eventual Munster quarter-final victory over Tipp.

Against the highly fancied home side, Limerick produced their best performance in years, righting all the wrongs of the league to come away with a first Munster championship victory in seven years.

Ahead of the Munster semi-final against Cork, O’Sullivan said,

“We had a good meeting about a month before the Tipperary game where we laid out areas of improvement and thankfully that resulted in a performance against Tipperary.”

This Saturday, once again Limerick will concede home advantage to the favourites as was the case in Semple Stadium.

While Cork football has been on somewhat of a downward spiral in recent times, they will still come into the game as heavy favourites.

O’Sullivan is fully aware of the challenge that awaits his side but is confident in his teams ability to come away with the result.

“It’s important for Limerick football to be playing in them sort of games.

It’s a huge opportunity and we need to focus on our own performance.”
