Following the victory over Ahane, Doon manager Tony Ward was relieved to come out on the right side of the 2-18 to 1-16 scoreline to advance to the semi-final of the Limerick SHC.
Doon ended up with 20 wides and Ward admitted that Ahane didn’t deserve to be beaten by the five-point margin.
Being seven points down at one stage, Doon showed their resolve to come back and win the game.
The goals ended up being crucial for Doon when they did eventually come.
“We work a lot on that on the training ground but probably in the first half, we were going for goals from way too far the field and we talked about that at half time.”
