Munster return to competitive action tonight against the Southern Kings in IIP after a couple of weeks rest to allow for the beginning of the Six Nations tournament.
The break will give Johann van Graan’s side a much need rest after qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions Cup was secured recently.
Van Graan’s side will look to make a positive return to the field against the Kings as they try to cement their place at the top of their conference whilst the Kings will attempt to move off the bottom of theirs.
Despite the gap in the table, van Graan is taking nothing for granted against the South African side.
“They’re a difficult opponent. We have a had a few weeks off and after a few weeks off we know we have to get out momentum again. All the focus will be on ourselves to hopefully put in a quality performance.”
With a number of internationals currently with Joe Schmidt in preparation for next weekend’s Six Nations clash with Italy, there is opportunity for fringe players to stake their claim for the Province in Cork.
“Everybody is really raring to go. There’s 36 guys who want to play on Friday night and unfortunately I can only pick 23 so quality training. Everybody is really excited.”
