Munster and Irish rugby legend Anthony Foley was remembered at his alma mater last weekend with the unveiling of a bust in his honour at St Munchin’s College.
Anthony’s parents, Brendan and Sheila, his wife Olive and two sisters Rosie and Orla were present at the unveiling. Also present were members of the St Munchin’s team that Anthony captained to Munster Schools Junior Cup success in 1989.

Speaking to Sporting Limerick in St Munchin’s, Rosie Foley thanked the school and said that St Munchin’s will always have a big place in the Foley family’s heart.
“Anthony loved St Munchin’s. I can’t emphasise how much he actually loved it. He loved coming back and talking to the lads here and watching Munchin’s playing, meeting up with past players.
“He had just such a love for the place and that doesn’t come accidentally. That’s a real culture and it continues today.
“My own son is here in first year with my nephew Tony. It’s the next generation and they are absolutely loving it and it’s a fantastic place to be involved with and we are very proud of how Munchin’s have honoured Anthony.
Rosie also admitted that Anthony would probably be embarrassed by the bust and beneath his public persona, he was “a really quiet guy.”
