Munster travelled to the Scarlets on Saturday afternoon in the first round of the 2020/21 Guinness Pro 14.
Munster looked down in out as time approached the red but a late surge from the 14-men saw them seal a huge win with a last minute penalty from Ben Healy securing the points.
In slippery conditions, the host adapted the best and were 9-0 to the good through three penalties.
Munster got the first try through Jack O’Donoghue on the half hour mark as JJ Hanrahan converted.
However, Munster’s indiscipline was proving very costly and with 65 on the clock they were 24-10 in arrears after five further Scarlets penalties.
Chris Farrell responded with Munster’s second minutes later but Peter O’Mahony was sent off in the process for a second yellow card.
Both sides then kicked penalties with a pair for Munser reducing the deficit to 27-20.
Munster mauled over the line to bring it to within two with Kevin O’Byrne awarded the try.
Healy made no mistake to level proceedings with a minute to play.
There would be one more chance for Munster to complete the turnaround with Healy making light work of a kick from his own half as Munster picked up the win.
