Tom Tierney’s side lost 36-24 to Australia last night in the Kingspan stadium in Belfast.
Ireland had the chance of getting to the 5th place playoff final last night when they face their Pool C rivals Australia.
You could forgive Irish fans being very confident going into the tie having already the Wallaroos in their first game of the tournament. However it wasn’t to be for Claire Molloy and her team as the Australians simply had too much for the Irish in the end.
Ireland now face wales in the 7th place play off game on Saturday at 2:00pm. You can see full highlights from the game here.
