WATCH: Hughes believes patience was key to victory

Ballynanty Rovers defender was relieved to emerge on the victorious side from a hard fought battle against Geraldines at Garryowen Green. Ballynanty won 3-2 despite falling behind twice in the game thanks to a brace from Connor Ellis and a Kevin Nolan header.

“Garryowen is always a hard place to play. We went down twice and the two boys up top, Kevin Barry and Shane Byrne are a handful. We said at half time we were creating enough chances that if we were patient we would win the game so we just stuck to that.”

Ballynanty now go into second place and leapfrog next week’s FAI Cup opponents Pike Rovers. Hughes feels the congested nature at the top of the league is a good thing for Limerick.
