WATCH | “I can’t wait to get going with the championship” | Roisin Ambrose looking ahead to Ladies All-Ireland Championship kick off

The Junior ladies All-Ireland Championship began at the weekend while Limerick off their campiagn this Sunday.

Limerick are gearing up for the start of the Ladies All-Ireland Junior Championship as they face Antrim on Sunday in Bruff.

Limerick will be looking to build of the back of a positive League campaign where they fell just short, falling to Offaly in the final.

Nonetheless, it was a positive League campaign for Graham Shine’s side were were crowned champions at this grade iin 2018.

The side is buoyed by the return of a number of players from that team including then captain Cathy Mee, Loretta Hanley and Mairead Kavanagh to name a few.

The team is captained by Roisin Ambrose, who was named as an All-Star during UL’s run to the O’Connor cup title. She alongside clubmate Iris Kenneally and Grainne McKennna all picked up All-Stars for their college in the springtime.

Limerick welcome Antrim to Bruff this Sunday where a win would go a long way towards booking an All-Ireland semi-final spot.

They then welcome New York on June 22 with two wins guarantee to push Shine’s side into the last four.

And ahead of the visit of the Ulster side this Sunday, Ambrose is excited to get going.

“Absolutely I can’t wait to get going with the TG4 Junior championship I want to be making it to Croke Park on the 31st of July.

“It’ll be tough, we have a tough group we’re playing Antrim they were a brilliant side last year we haven’t met them yet this year. Then we’re playing New York after that obviously we don’t know what New York will bring and we just have to prepare for that”

Limerick take on Antrim in their first game of the championship on Sunday 12th June 2022
