WATCH: “I take my hat off to them” -John Meyler commends Limerick display

John Meyler didn’t hide his disappointment at full time yesterday after seeing his Cork side fall at the semi-final stages of the All Ireland championship for the second consecutive year. After holding a six point lead approaching the final ten minutes of the game, Limerick battled back to secure the win in extra time.

Despite questioning a few of the decisions in the game, Meyler praised both teams for their fight in what was a classic encounter between the two Munster rivals.

“The fact that we were six points up in the 62nd minute and failed to close it out was a critical point… We were extremely competitive for the 70 minutes, we just lost our way in that critical minute or two and Limerick drove on.”

“They’re small errors, that would have possibly won us the game. But we need to be here all the time to learn from our mistakes but you don’t get chances because they’re coming, they want to play in an All Ireland final and I take my hat off to them.”
