Watch |”I’m really proud of the lads from one to thirty-three” says Limerick Minor Manager John Keane

John Keane and his Limerick Minors were victorious over Clare in the Munster Championship, they now get ready to face Waterford in the next round.

The Limerick minors manged to overcome their opponents Clare in the Munster Championship and progress to the next round.

John Keane and his side defeated their neighbours with a score line of 2-8 to 0-9. Limerick were clinical in front of goal and that was the difference between the two teams on they day.

Limerick now go on to face Waterford in the next round of the championship.

Keane was delighted to see his team bounce back form their loss to Tipperary in the first week of the championship. The Limerick side seemed to fix the mistakes they made in the Tipperary game to pull out a great performance in this must win game, especially in front of goal.

“It was a must-win night for us her on our home patch you know we’ve trained hard here since January. The lads really stuck in tonight they were really plucky and they really got on the front foot in the first half getting those early scores. Even though we dipped a little bit in the second half there we still created good chances, I’m really really proud of the lads one two thirty three in the squad”

With the difficulty of last weeks loss it was obvious that there would be amendments made, Keane insisted that his side just took the chances that they created unlike last week against Tipperary.

“We had great opportunities, we were even steven there with Tipp but you know into the last quarter a couple of handling errors really shifted the momentum of the game. So we didn’t make too many changes but look we stuck by what’s working for us, the guys they really work as a total unit.”

Looking ahead now to Waterford in the future of the championship, Keane and his men know the quality of the teams and the challenges that they will pose going forward.

“You look at any of teams here Tipp, Claire and Waterford you can see the work that has gone into bringing up the squad and the standards up. Getting through this round robin is bringing every team on and you can see that every team has been putting the work in and is just as well prepared.”

Limerick are all set now to face Waterford in the next round as Limerick seek Munster Championship glory.
