WATCH: Ireland make light work of indisciplined Italy

Ireland have defeated Italy 48-10 in Rome to collect their first victory of this season’s Guinness Six Nations.

Tries from Garry Ringrose, Hugo Keenan, Will Connors and CJ Stander secured the bonus point for Ireland against a poor Italy side after just 42 minutes. Further tries were added by Will Connors on the 66th minute and Keith Earls in the last play of the game on an afternoon where Ireland had three tries disallowed by the TMO.

The win will certainly give Ireland a confidence boost ahead of the closing rounds of the competition but the quality of the opposition has to come into close consideration. The Italian defence was leaky at best throughout as they missed 25 tackles and conceded over twenty penalties.

In the midst of a game that taught supporters little about this Ireland team, there were strong performances from young forwards Ronan Kelleher and Will Connors, while Craig Casey injected good energy off the bench.

Up next for Ireland are Scotland on the 14th of March at Murrayfield.
