Last Friday night the Irish U20s side did what their senior compatriots couldn’t and beat England in Irish Independent Park.
Such was the manner of the result in the Aviva the following night, much of the attention was taken from the 20s victory.
While they were widely expected to lose to the English, Ireland showed tremendous talent and heart throughout to come away with a brilliant 35-27
One of the standout performers was Shannon’s Jake Flannery who made more yards and defeated more defenders than anybody else across the opening weekend of the championship.
Irish Rugby caught up with the stalwart during the week where he outlined just how much he is enjoying his rugby with the Limerick club.
“I joined Shannon this year and I’m really enjoying it with Shannon. Some super coaches there and really enjoying every week to be honest.”
“I’m loving every minute of it. It’s addictive.”
