Munster head coach Johann van Graan was massively impressed by Ireland’s victory over Scotland in their Rugby World Cup opener.
Ireland were back to near their best in the 27-3 victory over the Scots on Sunday and van Graan hailed the performance.
“I thought it was an incredible performance. They put Scotland under so much pressure and were unlucky not to be more up at half time.
“After that break by CJ (Stander) they were unlucky not to score. I thought it was a very good set piece performance.”
Van Graan also spoke about the impact his own Munster players had on the comfortable victory that Joe Schmidt’s men had.
“From a Munster point of view, that was Conor (Murray’s) best performance of this calendar year.
“The way that he kicked. They way that he defended. His option taking. Great to see him finding great form in the biggest stage.
“From a team perspective and Munster’s point of view, I thought Pete (O’Mahony) started the game very well in the lineout.
“Killer (Dave Kilcoyne) came up with that turnover scrum. Tadhg (Beirne), Scans (Niall Scannell), Chris Farrell was excellent, Andrew’s work rate.”
