As Sunday’s European clash with Top 14 side Racing 92 fast approaches head coach Johann van Graan has highlighted his side’s recent discipline issues as a main focus of improvement ahead of the trip to the U Arena.
The South African hopes to keep the penalty count to a minimum in what will be a tough away trip against an in-form Racing side.
“If we can concede less than 7 penalties in a game, most likely you’ll win that game especially going up against a team that mauls very well. It depends on where you concede those penalties set piece wise. Once you get into your own 22 and you’ve got to defend a scrum or a maul it becomes very difficult to stop it and that might lead to 7, that might lead to a card.
“On the other side if we can be disciplined and force the opposition to concede penalties when we get into those positions we’ll have a good chance in that game.”
