WATCH | John Kiely hopeful on injured stars for Munster final following “cracking” showdown in Ennis

A fourth consecutive Munster Hurling final awaits Limerick as neither team could get the upper hand in a thrilling match in Ennis.

The game was an enthralling fixture with the 0-24 to 1-21 draw a fair result with the sides level on fourteen occasions.

Both teams attacked each other right from the start which allowed for one of the best games in the championship so far.

In three weeks time the two sides will meet again in the Munster Hurling final ior the first time since 1995. The anticipation for the game is already brewing and judging by the grin on Limerick manager John Kiely’s face after the game, it’s clear even he’s excited.

“If it’s anything like that game today, I think it’ll be a cracker. That was a great game of hurling. There was some cracking scores taken today by both teams and there was some lovely passages of play put together by both teams and we’re just really really delighted with our players you know.”

Two time All-star Gearoid Hegarty received a red card with ten minutes to play, that is highly likely to be “rescinded completely,” following an controversial incident.

Kiely offered an update on the mounting injury list with the Galbally native without three current All-Stars at the weekend.

The manager offered a positive update on Aaron Gillane who will make a return to training next week but was slow to confirm if there will be any more returns from injury for the likes of Cian Lynch, Peter Casey, Barry Murphy and Cathal O’Neill for the Munster final.

“(On Gilllane) It’s just a minor strain, he’ll be fine. He’ll be back at training next week,”

“(On others)It is too early to say, we’re making progress, great progress. We are very hopeful that more guys are going to come into the reckoning over the next few weeks”.
